(Some of the general policies in this section will also apply to Mother’s Morning Out students as well)
Preschool and Kindergarten children who have reached three, four or five years of age on or before September 2nd are accepted. (Children in our 3-year old program must be “potty” trained – no diapers or pull ups.) - Back to the Top -
Preschool and Kindergarten hours are 8:30 to 12:30. If you arrive before 8:20, please wait with your child in the Atrium. For earlier arrival an early morning room is available for a fee of $2.00 per child, per day – 7:30 to 8:20, Room 5115, Bldg. “5000”. The early morning sitter will walk children to their classrooms at 8:20.- Back to the Top -
SAFETY: No child will be released to anyone during the hours he/she is scheduled to be at Frazer Kindergarten except those designated by the parent. The school ABSOLUTELY must be notified in writing by the parent of any change in persons designated to pick up his/her child. Please do not call the school to make these arrangements. Under NO circumstances will your child be released unless we are notified of the change. (This includes relatives!)
There are fire emergency plans located in each classroom. The inside hallways are used to protect the children in case of bad weather. Periodic fire drills and bad weather drills will be used to prepare the children for any potential emergency.- Back to the Top -
CLOTHING: Your child will have a much happier and more relaxed day if he/she is dressed in comfortable clothes. Play clothes will be fine. Please put names on inside labels of all outer garments (jackets, sweaters, raincoats, caps, etc.) Shoes are to be worn. Please wear shoes that can be tied or buckled (No crocks, flip flops or shoes that have an open back that cannot be buckled).
PERSONAL BELONGINGS: Please do not allow your child to bring personal belongings such as toys, guns, etc., to class. Our program is designed to provide an opportunity for children to learn, explore, experiment, and socially interact through a wide range of creative activities. Most teachers have “SHARE BAGS”. Each classroom teacher will explain this.- Back to the Top -
CERTIFICATE OF IMMUNIZATION: All Frazer students in the 3’s, 4’s and 5’s classes are required by law to have on file proof of state required vaccinations (or exemption). Your doctor has the necessary form. Students entering 5-year-old Kindergarten must show evidence that they have received a second dose of measles vaccine. Please submit these forms to your child’s teacher by September 2, 2011.

Children must stay out of school a minimum number of days for certain contagious diseases unless the doctor clears them for earlier return (in which case the school will need a doctor’s written permission). We strongly advise you to adhere to the following suggested days of convalescence for these childhood illnesses.
Chicken Pox - 5 days after breaking out
Red Measles - 7 days after breaking out
Pink Eye - 1 day following initial use of prescribed medication
Strep Throat - During testing for and 1 day after the beginning
antibiotic and following cessation of fever
Head Lice - Students discovered to have head lice are required
to remain home during treatment. Parents are
required to immediately notify the school of the
infestation. Students will be readmitted to school
upon presentation of a statement from the child’s
physician/Health Department verifying that the
child is free of head lice.
We are not allowed to administer ANY medication to your child while in our care.

COMMUNICATION: Communication is an essential part of parent-teacher relationships. The usual method of communication between parents and teacher is by a written note pinned to the child . . . or, if you wish a conference with your child’s teacher or the directors, please contact the school office (279-0271) so this can be arranged.
For parent/teacher conferences, teachers will be available from 12:30 to 1:30 by appointment only. Please do not infringe upon your child’s time by expecting to confer during early morning playtime or during school hours. Our first concern is your child, his/her safety, comfort, happiness, training and learning. Therefore, it is not wise to allow any visitors during class hours unless an appointment for observation has been made in advance.- Back to the Top -
FIELD TRIPS AND PARTIES: Several parties, field trips and special programs will be held for the children during the school year. At those particular times, we will ask the mothers for help. Please do not bring siblings/home school children on field trips. We want this to be a special time for you with your preschool child. Field trips are an excellent means of enrichment. Each parent participating in a field trip with an entrance fee will be assessed the fee for the field trip.
In July 2006 the State of Alabama passed a law that ALL children 6 years old and under must be in a Child Restraint System.- Back to the Top -
SPECIAL NEEDS: Children with special needs or health problems must supply any equipment or aides needed in the classroom. This may also be determined by the teacher.- Back to the Top -
SNACKS: Teachers will provide each parent with a snack calendar each month. Each child will have a turn to bring “healthy” snacks to his/her classroom (drinks are furnished by the school). Birthdays will be noted on the snack calendar. You may prepare refreshments as a birthday party for your child. Your child will be honored in his/her classroom in a special way. Please contact the teachers for arrangements.- Back to the Top -
FOLDERS: Folders will be sent home with 4 and 5-year olds on Friday. Please review them with your child; empty them, and send them back on Monday morning. - Back to the Top -
PARKING: Parking must be done in the BACK of the church building. Please do not park or block the fire lane. Do not park in a handicapped space under any circumstance - unless you have a sticker on your car. Your cooperarion in this matter is extremely important. - Back to the Top -
DISCIPLINE: We strive to maintain a stimulating environment, which helps prevent negative behavior. Discipline shall be based on understanding the individual needs and development of a child. If discipline problems continue we will work with the parents to correct the situation, if the matter does not correct itself we will ask that the child be removed from our program. Withdrawal is always our last choice! - Back to the Top -
BAD WEATHER CONDITIONS: Should severe weather occur over the weekend or during the night, all radio and television stations will be contacted immediately if the decision is made to close the school. Parents should check with local stations at 10:00 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. regarding our closing. - Back to the Top -
